Queer Eye - Ray S.
2.43
Ray Steele – A Home to Come Home To
Start of Season 3
(Notice the format changes.)
First Aired in SA: 26 July 2006
This was a beautiful, sad, emotional episode, and there were lots of tears. Ray and his family’s story was really touching and I feel privileged that we got to be part of their lives for that hour.
The Fab 5 did an amazing job at helping them out too. It was beautiful.
Ray had to leave to go do a tour of duty in Iraq, for at least a year and half and he would be seeing action. He would be leaving behind his new wife and baby daughter and as he said, nothing could prepare him for how hard it would be to leave his family behind, and they really love him and he loves them. His wife will have to be doing everything alone, which is also brave, but the saddest part was when Ray was telling Ted that he is afraid that his daughter will not remember him when he returns. It was also very romantic as Ray and his wife had to get married in America so that the family could get the military benefits. They were originally married in Columbia. There home was really not a “home” either and Ray wanted to know his family was taken care of in a house that they could call a home. Thom also felt that Ray needed a home to come home to. Wedding co-ordinators put on a beautiful wedding for Ray and his wife, on the rooftop of a building. Thom did beautiful work on their house and got their baby daughter a crib that can be extended into a bed, as she gets older. The Fab 5 are all wonderful with children by the way. Ted got them a toaster to match the red sofa! Kyan, instead of the usual grooming stuff, let Ray and his wife have time together in a beautiful rose petal bath. Jai helped Ray chose a beautiful heart necklace that breaks in half and each other’s initials were engraved in the pieces of the heart. Ray got a care package with many things he’ll need in Iraq, which the Fab 5 would post to him. Ray and his wife got laptops so they can stay in touch. She also got thousands of dollars worth of shopping to keep them stocked up while Ray was away. Carson gave Ray and his wife matching sweaters that they will wear to get their scent on and then swap the sweaters when Ray leaves. That is a wonderful idea. And much, much more.
Childproof your home with furniture that has rounded corners.
Young children need colour in their lives. Even a colourful sofa will do.
Questions:
Why are gays not allowed in the army?
Ray should be back from Iraq now. Anyone know how he’s doing?
Quotes:
Carson: “You should get that thing so that babies don't stick things in electrical outlets. My parents never got those.”
Thom: “Oh, and look how you turned out.”
Carson (approaching the apartment): “Oo, I'm getting an apartment complex!”
Ted: “Filicia, we've got some bad fashion in sector 12.”
Thom: “Ted, you’re in the kitchen, you moron, there’s no fashion in there.”
Ted: “There is when I'm in the kitchen. Look at me, head to toe.”
Ray: “It's not a very good laptop.”
Carson: “No, it's like an Etch-a-Sketch!”
Thom: “Here.” (Shoving a Life game at Jai.) “Get a life.”
Carson (in his version of a military uniform, talking to Ray about gays in the army): “Let’s go to the foxhole now!”

This is what they have to say about the show and of course, David Hewlett:
"
In this record-breaking, heavily-touted spin-off from Stargate SG-1, an international team of scientists and military personnel discover a Stargate network in the Pegasus Galaxy - and come face-to-face with a famous lost city and a powerful new enemy, The Wraith.A secret group of scientists have discovered the location of the famous lost city of Atlantis, but it's not on Earth - it's located in another galaxy called Pegasus. The multinational scientific and military group, lead by Diplomat Dr. Elizabeth Weir (played by Torri Higginson), attempt to investigate the secrets of the city now known to have been built by ancient powerful beings, and bring whatever they discover back to Earth. They will be all on their own and will have to power their way out of Pegasus...Once in Atlantis, the group finds the city abandoned - asleep for thousands of years. They must find a power source within Atlantis' own Pegasus galaxy using the same stargate system that got them there or they will be stranded forever. On the first planet they visit, they accidentally waken a new, powerful, and more evil enemy than human kind has ever faced, the Wraith. And the Wraith are hungry for humans...Follow the extraordinary adventures of an SGA team lead by Major John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan), and his team made up by his second in command Lt. Aiden Ford (Rainbow Sun Francks), and the Astrophysicist/Scientist Dr. Rodney McKay (David Hewlett, reprising the role he played in Stargate SG-1). Joining the team will be Teyla Emmagan (Rachel Luttrell), a beautiful, exotic, and strong-willed woman from the Pegasus galaxy. The premiere of this show on the SCI FI Channel in the US was the most watched in the channel's history and was the the first episode of any series on SCI FI to deliver better than a 3.0 rating. It's an actionX exclusive and essential extra-terrestrial viewing!
David Hewlett stars as Dr. Rodney McKay, a brilliant and arrogant astrophysicist whose lightning quick mental reflexes have saved the expedition on more than one occasion on Stargate Atlantis.Born in Surrey, England, and raised in Toronto, Canada, David Hewlett became hooked on acting while watching the cult classic series Dr. Who. With some of his fellow sci-fi fans, he then started making short films at the age of 15, and would later reunite with some of these same friends for a trio of feature films - Cube, Cypher, and Nothing. Along with his role as Dr. McKay, which grew out of a recurring character in the seventh season of the series Stargate SG-1, Hewlett has appeared as a regular on two other series, Kung Fu - The Legend Continues and Traders, where he earned two Gemini nominations for Best Performance in a Featured Supporting Role. Additionally, he's played a recurring role on the series Beyond Reality, and has guest starred on Street Legal, Friday the 13th, Forever Knight, ER, Without a Trace, and The District. Hewlett had a leading role in Sylvester Stallone's television pilot Lefty, and has appeared in numerous telefilms, including The Triangle, And Never Let Her Go,The Penthouse, First Circle, Stargate Atlantis: Rising, Boa vs. Python, Darklight and the critically acclaimed The Boys of St. Vincent. Among his feature film credits are Nothing, Get Down, Clutch and John Boorman's Where the Heart Is, as well as cult favourites like Scanners II, Desire and Hell at the Sunset Motel, Pin and Ice Men.
