This is what they have to say about the show and of course, David Hewlett:

"
In this record-breaking, heavily-touted spin-off from Stargate SG-1, an international team of scientists and military personnel discover a Stargate network in the Pegasus Galaxy - and come face-to-face with a famous lost city and a powerful new enemy, The Wraith.A secret group of scientists have discovered the location of the famous lost city of Atlantis, but it's not on Earth - it's located in another galaxy called Pegasus. The multinational scientific and military group, lead by Diplomat Dr. Elizabeth Weir (played by Torri Higginson), attempt to investigate the secrets of the city now known to have been built by ancient powerful beings, and bring whatever they discover back to Earth. They will be all on their own and will have to power their way out of Pegasus...Once in Atlantis, the group finds the city abandoned - asleep for thousands of years. They must find a power source within Atlantis' own Pegasus galaxy using the same stargate system that got them there or they will be stranded forever. On the first planet they visit, they accidentally waken a new, powerful, and more evil enemy than human kind has ever faced, the Wraith. And the Wraith are hungry for humans...Follow the extraordinary adventures of an SGA team lead by Major John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan), and his team made up by his second in command Lt. Aiden Ford (Rainbow Sun Francks), and the Astrophysicist/Scientist Dr. Rodney McKay (David Hewlett, reprising the role he played in Stargate SG-1). Joining the team will be Teyla Emmagan (Rachel Luttrell), a beautiful, exotic, and strong-willed woman from the Pegasus galaxy. The premiere of this show on the SCI FI Channel in the US was the most watched in the channel's history and was the the first episode of any series on SCI FI to deliver better than a 3.0 rating. It's an actionX exclusive and essential extra-terrestrial viewing!

David Hewlett stars as Dr. Rodney McKay, a brilliant and arrogant astrophysicist whose lightning quick mental reflexes have saved the expedition on more than one occasion on Stargate Atlantis.Born in Surrey, England, and raised in Toronto, Canada, David Hewlett became hooked on acting while watching the cult classic series Dr. Who. With some of his fellow sci-fi fans, he then started making short films at the age of 15, and would later reunite with some of these same friends for a trio of feature films - Cube, Cypher, and Nothing. Along with his role as Dr. McKay, which grew out of a recurring character in the seventh season of the series Stargate SG-1, Hewlett has appeared as a regular on two other series, Kung Fu - The Legend Continues and Traders, where he earned two Gemini nominations for Best Performance in a Featured Supporting Role. Additionally, he's played a recurring role on the series Beyond Reality, and has guest starred on Street Legal, Friday the 13th, Forever Knight, ER, Without a Trace, and The District. Hewlett had a leading role in Sylvester Stallone's television pilot Lefty, and has appeared in numerous telefilms, including The Triangle, And Never Let Her Go,The Penthouse, First Circle, Stargate Atlantis: Rising, Boa vs. Python, Darklight and the critically acclaimed The Boys of St. Vincent.
